Sex and the City 2 Benefits Pediatric Cancer Research

On Wednesday, May 26, over 200 fabulously-dressed ladies (and a few lucky gents) attended The Seany Foundation’s Ladies Night Out at the Movies at Ultra Star Del Mar Highlands.  Guests warmed up at the pre-show soiree with a complimentary glass of wine and a wonderful spread generously donated by Rype Catering.  The pre-show raffles sent home lucky winners with VIP tickets to our next movie night, $100 in La Jolla restaurant certificates, and an exclusive Jet-Rhys salon package.  Glamour Awards were also distributed to the most stylish ladies of the evening.  Thanks to our generous guests in attendance, Ladies’ Night Out raised over $8000 for The Seany Foundation’s pediatric cancer research funds and local patients care projects.

GOOD SPORTS: A special thanks to our Chairman of the Board, Bill “Charlotte” Siegel, and survivor Chris Ramirez, our very own “Mr. Big”.  Check out more photos of our lovely guests at Seany’s Flickr Photostream.

New Soldier In War On Cancer: The Blind Mole Rat

One of the many reasons The Seany Foundation loves the naked mole rat: New Soldier in War on Cancer.

Facts:

  • The naked mole rat is blind and hairless (muy guapo!)

  • The naked mole rat is the only mammal that does not get cancer.

  • The naked mole rat was Sean’s favorite animal (even before he knew they were cancer-free).

  • You can see them on exhibit at the World-Famous San Diego Zoo.  Look for them tucked away in the corner of the Children’s Zoo.

Well, The Seany Foundation was pleasantly surprised to see over 100 new bright and happy faces walk through the doors of the Solstice Ballroom at Hotel Solamar on Saturday night for the First Annual Seany Lew Charity Poker Tournament, which raised over $6000.

Thanks to our volunteer photographer, Terrani Nevarez, we have plenty of photos to boast of the evening’s exciting festivities.  Check out the Seany Foundation’s Seany Lew Charity Poker Tournament Poker photos on Flickr.  You might be in there!

After a win-or-bust two first rounds and a nail-biting semi, the final table competitors kept everyone on the edge of their seats.  The final five poker players received a complimentary Seany Foundation t-shirt and one of five fabulous prizes, including luxury hotels stays and gourmet restaurant gift certificates.  Our first place winner even donated $250 back to The Foundation- talk about good sportsmanship!

The real party animals stayed for the raffle at the end of the night.  We gave away bottle service for up to 10 at Stingaree, tickets for the Padres, tickets for the Turf Club at the Del Mar Racetrack, travel packages, and a digital camera to name a few.

Yes, it seemed that everyone truly enjoyed the evening.  The casino games definitely entertained, too.  We’re looking forward to doing it again.  Thanks to all who came!  We hope to see you again soon for some more fun and games.
