Poker and Casino Night Leaves Big Winners

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2nd Annual Seany Lew Charity Poker Tournament and Casino Night brought in some spenders and sent home some big winners!  With over 70 guests in attendance, the night of fun’n’games raised well over $5000 for The Seany Foundation!

Our poker tournament’s lucky first place winner took home $500 cash.  Our 2nd-5th place players took home gift certificates to the excellent local restaurants BICE, Blanca, Bluefire Grill, and Hash House.  And our raffle prize winners took home a Toshiba LCD HDTV, a 16GB iPod, a Cuisinart 12 pc. cookware set, and a JetRhys Hollywood package valued at $150.  Guests enjoyed complimentary food and $5 bar drinks while they played the night away at roulette, craps, poker, and blackjack.

Thank you to Casino Knights for working with us again this year to deal the best cards possible, and a special thank you to Programs Director Abe Collier and the Pacific Athletic Club for graciously hosting the evening’s festivities.

Happy 2010!

Well, we’re back from our holidays, too, and ready to roll!  So far, we’ve hit the ground running and are thrilled to announce some of the details of our new research endeavors.  Check back in another day to see some pics from a recent FunBowl to benefit the Foundation and more updates on a great start to the new year!

HOG Annual Toy Drive and More Holiday Fun

Yes, despite the rain, over 100 big-hearted bikers from Biggs Harley Davidson North County and San Diego Chapters showed up on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Rady Children’s Hospital to deliver toys collected in their annual toy drive for the kids.  H1N1 precautions kept the kids from grabbing the toys in person this year, but our HOG friends made sure to leave tons of wonderful gifts for them to enjoy this holiday season!

After emptying their “sleds”, these holiday do-gooders went to Applebee’s to fill up their tummies at Dining to Donate, an event to benefit The Seany Foundation.  Our congratulations to our HOG friends for a job very well done!  You can check out some more snapshots of the Toy Drive at the Seany Flickr Photostream.

Wine Tasting Leaves Sweet Aftertaste

Red or white?

Red or white?

The Seany Foundation Wine-Tasting at the PAC featured reds, whites, and gourmet appetizers.  The Carmel Valley News stopped by to say hello and snap some shots of our guests.  It was a nice, relaxing afternoon, and a few more people now know who we are…  Special thanks to Abe Collier for helping make this event a success.  You can view photos on The Seany Foundation Flickr Photostream.  Be sure to check back in soon for more events at the PAC.

Hairless Potter Photos on Flickr

On the eve of the global premiere, over 240 Potter fans gathered at the Ultra Star Del Mar Highlands 8 to be one of the first in San Diego to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  The Seany Foundation event raised over $8000.  Guests enjoyed complimentary concessions, and some lucky contestants walked away with some stellar prizes from our costume contest.

The three finalists for Best Overall Costume took home a Wii, an ipod, and Harry Potter Scene It!  The Hogwarts judges also awarded Most Creative, Most Spirited, Most Thrifty, and Most Authentic.

Check out the valiant fight against childhood cancer in these awesome photos!  (Compliments of Seany Foundation volunteer Robert Ricasa.)  Oh, and if you haven’t seen the footage yet, check out how The Seany Foundation is raising awareness for pediatric cancer here in San Diego.
