Swinging for Seany Raises Over $60K

On Monday, May 20, approximately 100 guests attended the 3rd Annual Swinging for Seany Charity Golf Tournament at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. KUSI got the exclusive from Co-Founder Mitch Robins in the early morning as the clouds parted and made way for a beautifully, sunny day out on some of the best greens in San Diego. Special guests included sports celebrities Kris Dielman, Chris McAlister, Tre McLeod, Jim Trotter, Jermaine Dye, and Scott Shields.

Golfers competed in fun contests for exciting prizes such as a stay at Wynn Las Vegas, and enjoyed a relaxing cocktail hour, silent and live auctions, awards dinner, and opportunity drawing. Congratulations to our Lowest Team Score winners, pictured below:

Perhaps the most touching moments of the day included speeches from Sean’s sister, Emily, and Camp Reach for the Sky camper and cancer survivor, Oscar. The Seany Foundation also proudly announced that, in 2014, the American Cancer Society will pass the torch to The Seany Foundation as the funding organization for Camp Reach for the Sky, a free summer camp for kids with cancer and their siblings. Proceeds raised at this year’s golf tournament will help send patients and their siblings to camp next year.

Special thanks to our sponsors: University Compounding Pharmacy, Eddy Pump, Alfonsi Railroad, Porsche of San Diego, Pure Flo, MLA Foundation, Terri Yurek Insurance, Barona Resort & Casino, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

Poker Night Antes Up $10K

On Saturday, March 30, over 100 guests placed their bets at Seany’s Showdown Poker Tournament and Casino Night at Co-Merge in downtown San Diego to help fight childhood cancer. The fun-filled night raised $10,000 for The Seany Foundation’s patient care programs. Casino players got lucky at craps, blackjack, and roulette. Congratulations to poker tournament winner Delana Ricasa, who took home the grand prize: a two-night stay at the Wynn Hotel Las Vegas and two tickets to see Cirque De Soliel’s Le Reve!

Everyone enjoyed the festive beats of DJ PJ, refreshing cocktails by Bartini’s and St. Petersburg Vodka, and yummy appetizers courtesy of Titled Kilt.  Lucky drawing winners took home exciting prizes, including a St. Mark’s Golf Package, a Donovan’s Steak & Chop House Gift Certificate, Pamplemousse Chocolate Caramels, and more!

Photos of the event were taken courtesy of Milton Motion & Design and can be viewed on Facebook.

Touch a Truck Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, Saturday, September 29, The Seany Foundation will join friends at Max’s Ring of Fire 4th Annual Touch a Truck event. Come visit Emily and Amy Robins at The Seany Foundation’s booth at Qualcomm Stadium and decorate a card to send to the young cancer patients at Rady Children’s Hospital!

Kids Thirsty to Help Other Kids

Twin Cousins Hunter and Daniel Greenspan (6.5 like Noah) joined Noah and Talia (4.5) Baird in Carslbad, CA. They raised money and donated earnings to TSF!

This summer, our good friend Noah Baird, hosted another lemonade stand. And once again, he donated a portion of profits to The Seany Foundation, to help kids who are battling cancer. This time, he enlisted his cousins who were visiting from NY.

Complete with an ipod and speakers, their lemonade stand attracted the attention of drivers-by (mostly due to the wonderful dancing accompanying the music). The Seany Foundation salutes Noah and his growing gang of lemonade sellers for their continued support in the battle against pediatric cancer! Way to go, kiddos!

Summer Heats Up!

This summer The Seany Foundation proudly sponsored “Seany’s Corner” at the American Cancer Society’s summer camp program known as Camp Reach for the Sky. The camp allows children with cancer the chance to be kids – an experience often taken away or put on hold by their disease – and gives them a fun summer camping adventure while under medical supervision.

“Seany’s Corner” offered a refuge for kids who preferred to participate in more low-key or less physically demanding outdoor activities, providing numerous arts and crafts projects. On July 4, Seany Co-founder Amy Robins and Board Member Amy Schneider visited camp. Here are a few photos of some of the happy campers:

Temple Solel Trikes Against Cancer

On Wednesday, May 16, preschoolers at Temple Solel Early Childhood Center jumped on their tricycles and did laps to help fight childhood cancer! The Trike-a-Thon donated proceeds to The Seany Foundation. The tikes, in turn, learned about Mitzvahs and helping others in need. Thanks, Temple Solel students and teachers, for riding to help end pediatric cancer! Check out the next generation of do-gooders in action:

Hairless Potter Raises Over $14K

Thank you, Seany supporters! Your magic helped us raise over $14,000 at this year’s Hairless Potter Night.

Over 300 people attended Seany Movie Night at UltraStar Poway. Guests followed the red carpet to Theater 10, where they were among the first in San Diego to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. KUSI and Fox News were there to cover all the excitement.

Seany’s Sponsor-a-Kid Program provided 100 complimentary tickets to young cancer patients and their families from local hospitals.

The costume contest boasted young participants dressed as the Weasley brothers, Tonks, Muggles, Dementors, creative versions of Harry Potter, and many more. Winners took home prizes ranging from an iPod to Harry Potter Legos to official HP7 posters to free smoothies at Jamba Juice.

The winner of the evening’s drawing was announced online after the event: #661895. The winner can claim the prize by calling 858-551-5885 or emailing [email protected]
