Seany Foundation Raises over $90,000!

Thanks to the generosity of the Everything Is Possible Celebration ’09 sponsors and guests, The Seany Foundation was able to raise over $90,000 to benefit its local projects to help find cures for pediatric cancers and to improve the quality of life for kids currently battling cancer.

The evening began with an open bar and about 40 silent auction items open for bids.  Guests then enjoyed the delicious cuisine catered personally by chef extraordinaire, Jeffrey Strauss (of Pamplemousse Grille).  A photo booth, caricatures, and raffle prizes kept guests entertained while Kamau Kenyatta rose spirits with his jazz tunes.  Bill Menish had his share of fun with the crowd during the live auction and also welcomed special guests Willy Santos and family and Assemblymember Lori Saldana to the party.

After a touching video about the Foundation and its mission, hearts throughout the room were warmed by guests “raising the paddle” to donate to help fund not only pediatric cancer research but also patient projects such as the teen activity center and rehab swimming pool.  And thus, Seany’s legacy continues.

We’re well on our way to hitting that half-a-million-dollar milestone.  Not bad for only a couple years!  And we’re just getting started!  Look out childhood cancer!  Your days are numbered.

Thank you to those who made this event possible: Daniel Baird Photography, Chris Daily, all of our wonderful volunteer staff, the Mission Bay High Key Club, our generous sponsors and item donors (check out the list on the News and Events page), Diane Kern, Bill Menish, the San Diego Hall of Champions staff, Willy Santos and family, Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, North Shore Printery, Scribbles Ink, Rene Van Rem, Blue Photo Booth, Kamau Kenyatta, Jeffrey Strauss, all of the lovely people in attendance, and, of course, our Seany Foundation supporters who couldn’t attend but still donated.  You can all feel very good about doing good.

Plans for next year’s Celebration are already in the works.  The date has been set for October 10, 2010.  That’s right: 10/10/10.  So, mark your calendars because it’s sure to be one party you won’t want to miss!
